Founding Farmers is a free and open community news forum founded in Marlboro, NY when two residents wanted for a better way for their families to access information. With the rapid decline in printed news and media, many news articles are paywalled or not local enough to be of value. Many residents have turned to social media to keep up with the local goings on.
While Founding Farmers has its roots and launch in the Town of Marlborough, we aspire to support free, open source, local news throughout Southern Ulster, and will take steps to establish ourselves as a non-for-profit in 2026.
This project belongs to the community. Its purpose is to promote transparency and provide a reliable, accessible record of local government activity. We invite you to contribute, share and reuse our articles, stay informed, and take part.
