There’s a lot of hesitation behind submitting a document, report, or concern around the town you live in. Some may fear retaliation should their identity be exposed. This isn’t accusatory, it’s a normal feeling of nervousness everyone feels before speaking up. Here are some ways you can anonymize your submissions:
- Use Hide My Email on IOS. This feature is available with paid-for iCloud storage. You can read directions on how to do that here.
- Sign up for ProtonMail. Proton is a secure, private mail and document service that allows you to create anonymous email aliases to protect your origin IP and identity.
- Try a security plugin like Mailvelope for Google mailboxes.
- Review our Rules and Privacy Policy. We are committed to protecting the identity of our sources, while we’re an independently run news outlet, we abide to the SPJ Code of Ethics.

Submit a Public Comment
Be heard by your town. Submit or request a public comment by submitting your request to the Town Secretary.
Prefer to remain anonymous? Founding Farmers is happy to submit a request on your behalf.
Per the Secretary:
If you would like a letter to be read at a town board meeting, please send it to The Town of Marlborough Supervisor’s Office, PO Box 305, Milton, NY 12547, and clearly state that you would like it to be included as part of the correspondence for the meeting (email is also acceptable).
If you prefer to give a presentation to the Town Board yourself, please let me know the topic. I will then inform the Supervisor, and once approved, I will add you to the agenda under “public presentation.”
Attend a Meeting
Meetings are held twice monthly, if you’re unable to attend in person you can also attend digitally on Zoom. For information on when and where meetings occur, visit the Town website.
