We hope our neighbors enjoyed the holiday season. While we took a brief pause, town business, here’s what we missed.
Councilman Ed Molinelli passed away on November 24 after a prolonged illness. Mr. Molinelli served the Town of Marlborough for many years and our condolences are with his family in this time. The town has appointed Deputy Supervisor Gael Appler Jr. as interim councilman until the regular election in November.
The Town also made several appointments to its planning and zoning boards. Stephen Jennison will serve as Chair of the Planning Board for 2026. Nicholas Bozzo was newly appointed to the Planning Board, with a term running through 2030.
The Zoning Board of Appeals will again be chaired by Lenny Conn. No additional changes to the ZBA were announced for the coming year.
Residents in Marlboro approved a referendum authorizing renovations and an expansion of the Grand Street firehouse. The project will increase the local tax levy but addresses long-standing needs in the nearly 50-year-old facility.
In neighboring Newburgh, the Town Council voted last month to approve approximately $2 million for the development of burial grounds for the remains of formerly enslaved individuals discovered beneath Broadway. The decision drew public debate, with Councilman Omari Shakur arguing that the funding should instead be directed toward youth programs. The vote and ensuing discussion received regional attention.
We look forward to a productive and focused 2026 and will resume our regular publishing schedule this month.
Cheers!
